Book review – Mastering phpMyAdmin 3.4 for Effective MySQL Management

phpMyAdmin is my favorite “graphical” MySQL management tool. Yeah, I know about tools like MySQL Workbench, but they are usually overkill (in terms of performance and complexity). In other cases, the command-line tool is enough.

Anyway, configuring phpMyAdmin can be tricky, specially if you want to tweak it to have maximum performance and security. That’s why I read the book Mastering phpMyAdmin 3.4 for Effective MySQL Management, from Marc Delisle.

The book will serve specially for beginners on installing, tweaking and taking maximum profit of phpMyAdmin. But, for pros, the most interesting parts will be the tweaks, data synchronization and replication and change-tracking. These last topics are not deeply covered, and you may need to consult other resources to know more about them.

If you have spare cash, this book is a good addition to your collection.
